I am sculptor and biologist. Nature along with ethnography is my main sources of inspiration. I find it intriguing to combine mystical elements with natural science to create something new.

Currently, my working method is combining ceramic reliefs as/with mosaic on a surface. My works have layers that do not expose themselves immediately, but on closer inspection details with another message emerge. The influence of the Finnish jugend style with its angular and robust forms can be seen in my art, but there are also echoes from 1960's, Japanese pop art as well as ancient Permian bronze motifs.

We at Bobola asked tree key questions from Ville.

I am inspired by nature and human beings as part of it.”

In the future I’ll also use other materials and techniques on top of ceramics.”

Most important thing for me is to look at things from a positive angle both in art and life.”

Activity of the day:

Today we are extremely happy to annoyance our first visiting artist. Artist Ville Heimala tells about his work and has also prepared an exciting activity for you! We are still exploring the underwater life and today we shall make a mobile using the fish Ville has created to cheer us up! Let’s get started!

1. First you need to print out the A4 papers and colour the fish as you wish! You may imagine the most colourful underwater life.

2. Then we practice the use of scissor again and cut the fish.

3. The next step is to make the frame for the mobile. You can use metal wire, cardboard or some wooden sticks for this purpose. You may need some help from your parents to balance the frame. Once you have made a frame you need some short threads to hang the fish.

4. How does your mobile look like? #bobolafi

You can also use the fish for other purposes. How about some magnets for the fridge? Do you come up with some other great ideas?

Dear followers we want to remind you that parents assume all responsibility for the safety of their children in these activities.
